A Visitor Visa is a non-immigrant visa granted to foreign nationals who wish to visit the U.S. temporarily (typically up to 6 months, depending on the purpose of the visit) for tourism, leisure, or medical treatment, and for business purpose.


Purpose of the Visitor Visa:

  • Tourism: Visiting family, and friends, or exploring the country.

  • Medical Treatment: Seeking treatment for medical conditions in U.S. healthcare facilities.

  • Short-Term Business Visits: Attending business meetings, conferences, or negotiations.


Key Eligibility Requirements:

  • Intent to Return: Applicants must demonstrate no intention of staying permanently by proving ties to their home country, such as a job, family responsibility, business commitments, or property.

  • Financial Stability: You must show that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay i.e. bank balance, fixed deposits, mutual funds, shares of listed companies etc.

  • Valid Passport: At least 6 months beyond your intended stay.


Steps to Apply

  1. Form DS-160:
    The first step is to fill out the DS-160 form, Accuracy in filling out of form is the key to increase visa success.

  2. Profile Creation:
    After completing the DS-160, required to create a profile on the U.S. Consulate or Embassy website.

    • (i) Payment of Visa Fees: Pay the visa application fee of Rs. 16,095 through various payment methods.

    • (ii) Scheduling and Rescheduling of Appointment: After payment of visa fees, you’ll need to schedule a visa interview appointment at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.   3. Interview Preparation:
